      <Abstract>This research paper is a study on Gold Monetization Scheme India__ampersandsign#39;s recent proposal to launch gold monetization scheme is not new - we already had Gold Deposit and Gold Metal Loan schemes apart from Gold Bonds launched in 1993, all of which suffered from a number of limitations. The Gold Monetization Scheme is innovative concepts in finance of monetizing domestic idle gold bringing it to the use of industry thereby reduce the import. After an announcement in 2015-16 budgets the cabinet approved two schemes - Sovereign Gold Bonds Scheme (SGB) and Gold Monetization Scheme (GMS).




The Government__ampersandsign#39;s aim to induce people to invest more in financial assets rather than gold is surely a step in the right direction. However, implementation holds key to their success.
