Abstract:
On the background of UGC’s last year’s decision to investigate theses submitted for PhD over the past decade for plagiarism, this research paper tries to analyze the concept of Responsible Research, Research Ethics and Plagiarism and the impact of straying away from them. The paper is based on secondary data. In the course of the research, I found that more research needs to be done in imbibing the importance of responsible research, the role played by institutions in enforcing the ethics code and the existence & influence of ethics committees.
