CAN INDIA COMPETE CHINA IN THE ECONOMIC GROWTH RACE

Abstract:
The 21st Century *s rightly labeled as the Century of Asia and Pacific. In last two decades when the decades when the Atlantic Nations are showing the declining trends of growth. The Asian tigers and India and China have shown a consistent improvement in their economic performances as well as have registered a very high growth rate.
India has transformed its economy in remarkable manner since 1991. There is an upward trend in the pace of growth and the success story stilt continues. The idea of ’brand India’ is now welt established and India is in the race of becoming a superpower.
The question before us is whether India will compete its contender that is China, and if yes how? The justification of affirmative answer can be offered as follows:
i)Democratic setup, Balanced and developed financial and administrative institutions.
ii)A strong judiciary and matured banking and financial systems.
There is clear evidence of India as potential to be super power in making. However, there are significant constraints that cannot be neglected or avoided. The growing disparity and discontent, amongst different social classes, similarly the challenges posed by analysts and terrorists as well as tack of appropriate opportunities for promotion of a pragmatic economic policy are certain issues need to be property addressed.
This paper discusses what are the issues and constraints in making India a Superpower.
